About the Department
The department of Chemistry is the pioneer department at Asansol Girls' College. The department started its journey from the beginning of establishment of the college with only Pass course. Later it upgraded to teach Honours (B.Sc.) course.
Currently, the department has in total 5 (five) full time teachers and 2 (two) non-teaching staffs. The department has total 31 intake capacity each year (including Gen: 14; SC: 7; ST: 2; OBC-A: 3; OBC-B: 2; EWS: 3). Every year our students are placed in various IITs, NITs, Universities for their higher studies. The alumni from this department have proved themselves in different academic and non-academic fields.
Infrastructure

Departmental Library: There is a well-maintained Departmental Library of various text and reference books for both Honours and Pass Course Students, from which students and teachers borrow books regularly.

Laboratory: Apart from the general laboratory with basic infrastructure facilities required for UG level practical courses, there is a various instrument available in the laboratory having conductivity meter, potentiometer, Centrifuge apparatus, digital balance (high precision), and distillation unit.

Teaching Aid: Besides normal chalk & Talk, we have ICT facility for regular class
